WIKIPEDIA EDIT-A-THON | VIRTUAL
MARCH 11 | 6 - 7 PM MST | FREE
The Southern Alberta Art Gallery has hosted an incredible legacy of artists, curators and arts professionals since our opening in 1976, and we want the world to know. Open-source, online commons are crucial to the sharing of information and the recording of history. In this digital age, so much is accessible to us, yet we need someone to take the time to write it down. Participate in our online Wikipedia Edit-a-thon to add to our SAAG page. Join us online over zoom to talk art and community while we edit together.
Who has been a part of the SAAG that feels important to you? What exhibitions do you remember, and want others to know about? What can you share about the founding of the gallery? As we approach the centennial anniversary of our Carnegie building constructed in 1922, which houses our upper gallery, we are thinking about the history of the SAAG and it’s importance within Lethbridge and beyond.
Registrants will need to create an account on Wikipedia in order to edit, and we recommend you do this in advance of the event. Together we will gather news articles, publications and websites to use as citations. Please email cfaulkner@saag.ca if you have any questions. There is lots of space for people to share their stories and histories of the gallery, even if you don’t feel comfortable editing - send them our way!
