Melanie Barnett is a ceramic sculptor with an MFA from NSCAD University in K’jipuktuk/Halifax. Originally from Treaty 4 Territory in Grandview, MB, Barnett completed her BFA Honours in Ceramics at Brandon University (2021). Barnett’s current work draws upon themes of mycology and climate science to speculate upon a future where through genetic mutations, chance, and innovation, future “humans” have developed an intricate symbiosis with a number of species of fungus, moss, and algae.
