Nature as Teaching Systems

  • Indian Battle Park 200 Indian Battle Road South Lethbridge, AB Canada (map)

The Gallery is excited to announce our summer workshop series Nature as Teaching System.

Join Blackfoot educator John Chief Calf on a walk in the Oldman River valley parks system. Chief Calf will share his extensive knowledge of Blackfoot language, history, and culture, and offer a different perspective on our relationship with the land. Through open conversation, these workshops will encourage an understanding of nature as an intelligent system, one we can look to as a guide for how we live our lives.

Participants will meet in the Fort Whoop Up parking lot at 1:50 p.m. Fort Whoop Up is accessible from the Gallery via cultureLINK, the City of Lethbridge’s new free summer bus service connecting the city’s many arts and culture attractions. Parking is also available throughout Indian Battle Park.

As these are outdoor workshops, attendees are encouraged to bring/wear:

  • weather-appropriate clothing

  • a hat

  • sunscreen

  • bug spray

  • comfortable walking shoes

  • a water bottle

  • notebook and pens/pencils

If you have any questions, contact Heather Kehoe, Public Engagement and Event Coordinator.
