SAAG WRITING WORKSHOP: ART WRITING STRATEGIES

SAAG Writing Workshop: Art Writing Strategies with Sneha Subramanian Kanta

FREE ONLINE EVENT

May 19, 4 - 5:30 PM MST / 6 - 7:30 PM EST

The Southern Alberta Art Gallery Maansiksikaitsitapiitsinikssin invites you to join us for this free online writing workshop, led by writer and academic Sneha Subramanian Kanta.

What arrives after beauty? Through ekphrasis, the vivid description of a work of art, this generative workshop will offer you strategies to close-read a piece of art. We will also learn to utilize decolonial strategies such as fragmentation, erasure, and creating your own form to frame an ekphrastic response. We will study poems and excerpts from creative nonfiction essays, and bring attention to tense, lineation, form, and description. You will leave with several drafts of multi-genre work.

This workshop is held online over Zoom. To sign up for this workshop, please email Program & Event Coordinator Heather Kehoe hkehoe@saag.ca
