Pride reFashion Workshop with Tyler Alexander and Kylie Fineday

Join guest artists Tyler Alexander and Kylie Fineday to make, mend, and alter your clothes for Pride using embroidery, patches, paint, and more. Visitors of all ages are invited to join us for this fun afternoon of fashion.

Supplies will be provided for this free drop-in workshop to make patches and other small sewn items. Visitors are welcome to bring their own clothing to alter. This event is presented in partnership with the Lethbridge Pride Festival Society.

Tyler Alexander is a textile artist who specializes in hand embroidery, costuming, fabric dyeing, and tapestry. Characterized by intricate details, vivid color, and a strong sense of texture, his art is heavily influenced by organic forms. With a background in natural science, Tyler brings a unique perspective to his work, experimenting heavily with all forms of needlework. He seeks to explore the intersection of beauty and function, creating pieces that are both aesthetically pleasing and practical.

Kylie Fineday is a nehiyaw (Plains Cree) artist and curator from Sweetgrass First Nation, Saskatchewan. Currently based in Lethbridge, Alberta, Fineday completed the BFA-Art Studio program at the University of Lethbridge in 2020 with great distinction, an honours thesis, and the Faculty of Fine Arts Gold Medal. Fineday’s art practice often focuses on themes of personal identity and family history, as well as addressing social issues and injustices, particularly those affecting Indigenous peoples in Canada. Fineday’s material practice is multidisciplinary, and includes drawing, photography, performance, sculpture, and textiles such as sewing and beadwork. Fineday has exhibited work in various institutions in Lethbridge, Alberta, and has also worked on multiple curatorial projects within the community.
