Join the Southern Alberta Art Gallery Mannsiksikaitsitapiitsinikssin and the Lethbridge Allied Arts Council in Galt Gardens for live music, performance, and art activities every Wednesday in August from 11 AM - 2 PM!
August 2 features a live performance from Willy Big Bull at noon and a knitting workshop featuring artist Madeson Singh in which participants can contribute to a community quilt that will be displayed in the park. Supplies are provided for this free drop-in workshop and participants are welcome to bring yarn and knitting needles to contribute to the project.
Madeson Singh is a Cree-Punjabi artist from treaty 8 territory and member of the Mikisew Cree First Nation. Working through a range of mediums her practice can be described as multidisciplinary and constantly evolving. Her current fixation is on fibrework, fueled by the large amounts of yarn she’s accumulated through the years. Much of her work deals with relationships to land, language, identity, culture, and Indigenous sovereignty and survivance.
