Garden pARTy featuring Angeline Simon and the Bridge Brass Quintet

Join the Southern Alberta Art Gallery Mannsiksikaitsitapiitsinikssin and the Lethbridge Allied Arts Council in Galt Gardens for live music, performance, and art activities every Wednesday in August from 11 AM - 2 PM!

On August 16, join artist Angeline Simon and learn the basics of hand-building using coil and pinch pot techniques to create mini air dry clay vases! Add surface design with various tools, or paint your vase at home! These vases are perfect for dried flower arrangements, as they won’t be waterproof. All supplies are provided for this free drop-in workshop. This event also features a live performance by the Bridge Brass Quintet.

Angeline Simon is a multidisciplinary artist from Lethbridge, Alberta. She graduated from the University of Lethbridge in 2018 with a BFA in Art Studio. Influenced by her Malaysian-Chinese and German ancestry,Simon explores familial narratives and the dynamics within contrasting cultures. The physical distance from family members and a lack of participation in both German and Chinese cultural traditions is the main reason for Simon’s investigation into her ancestral past. Her work has been exhibited at galleries and institutions including The PLATFORM Centre for Photographic + Digital Arts, Harcourt House Artist Run Centre, Contemporary Calgary, Southern Alberta Art Gallery, Casa, Trianon Gallery, and the University of Lethbridge Dr. Foster James Penny Building.
