CURATOR'S TOUR

  • Southern Alberta Art Gallery 601 3 Avenue South Lethbridge, AB, T1J 0H4 Canada (map)

Join Interim Curator Adam Whitford on for a guided tour of the Gallery’s current exhibitions, The Faceless Familiar, Tangle, and Desiderium, on view until Feb. 11.

The Faceless Familiar | Barry Doupé, Nick Sikkuark, Kasia Sosnowski, Alison Yip, Elizabeth Zvonar
Dabbling in both the grotesque and the comedic, The Faceless Familiar taps into broader feelings of unrest in the hidden portions of the psyche. Through mediums of collage, assemblage, computer animation, ceramics, painting, drawing, and sculpture, each artist delves into the psychological states beneath the visage.

Dagmar Dahle | Tangle
Tangle assembles 14 years’ worth of Lethbridge-based visual artist, writer, and educator Dagmar Dahle’s gouache line drawings on paper. Part automatic drawing and part daily practice, Tangle refers to the interwoven, chaotic linearity of the artworks but also the reckoning with oneself through meditative introspection.

Raneece Buddan | Desiderium
Edmonton-based Jamaican artist Raneece Buddan combines Nigerian and Indian methods for ceramics and block printing. Buddan’s process creates a unified whole from disparate visual styles, cultures, and times, much like a search for a unified identity.

The curator's tour is is free for Gallery Members. For non-members, regular admission applies
