Join us Thursday, August 10 from 6 to 7 p.m. for Bletcher Hour, the Gallery’s monthly critical reading group. Readings explore key themes of the exhibitions and current events, with the intent to deepen our understanding of the artworks and their context within our community.
Join us as we gather together to discuss the first chapter of New Dark Age: Technology and the End of the Future by James Bridle. James Bridle is an artist, writer and publisher based in London. In New Dark Age, Bridle surveys the history of art, technology, and information systems to explore how the simultaneous increase in technological complexity and decrease in technological comprehension is creating a new Dark Age. This book was recommended by artist Ryland Fortie, whose exhibition Epoch Gnaw is on display in the Upstairs Gallery until September 30 2023.
This program is free to attend. Please contact Heather Kehoe, Program & Event Coordinator, to register. Readings are sent as PDFs in advance of the event. If you cannot make it in person, online attendance options are available.
