Tyler Los-Jones Intersection
June 1, 2015 - June 30, 2015
SAAG is pleased to welcome Calgary-based artist Tyler Los-Jones to our residency program at Blairmore's Gushul Studio, which is operated and maintained by the University of Lethbridge's Faculty of Fine Arts.
Los-Jones' photographic practice draws on his proximity to Alberta's Rocky Mountains. Through folding and re-photographing touristic images of these local geographies, his work investigates the process in which landscape photography is used to produce and fulfill our expectations of environments.
Los-Jones' work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in the United States, United Kingdom and throughout Canada. Recently, his work has been exhibited at the 2014 Feature Contemporary Art Fair (Toronto), Platform Centre (Winnipeg), and Ditch Projects (Springfield, OR). He was commissioned to produce a large-scale work titled, A panorama protects it's views for Future Station: the 2015 Alberta Biennial of Contemporary Art at the Art Gallery of Alberta (Edmonton). Los-Jones' work is included in the permanent collections of the Banff Centre, TD Canada Trust, Royal Bank of Canada and the City of Calgary Civic Collection.
